At Highcliffe, we follow the CUSP scheme of work. Every study taught will draw upon prior learning from EYFS through to Year 6. By revisiting previously taught topics, the new learning is put into a known location which makes it easier for children to cognitively process. CUSP Geography supports our children in making conscious connections and ‘thinking hard’, using what they know. It is built around using cumulative knowledge with the emphasis on how the content is all connected.
We aim for our children to become ‘more expert’ through following the CUSP curriculum and each study that is covered. Through this, children will develop not only an interest in their locality but the wider world around them.
Children will learn to say, read and write specific and associated geographical vocabulary. This is planned and is built upon from Year 1 to Year 6.
