AT Highcliffe we follow the CUSP scheme of work. The curriculum is organised into blocks with each block covering a particular set of artistic disciplines, including drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, 3D and collage. Children revisit key disciplines throughout the curriculum, providing opportunities to apply skills and knowledge at increasing degrees of challenge and complexity. Children are expected to use their knowledge and skills to experiment with, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. They are encouraged to think critically about their own and others’ work to develop a deeper understanding of art and design. During their curriculum journey, the children will study the work of a range of different artists and consider how their work has contributed to the development of culture and creativity.
